When a business makes the decision to relocate or expand into new premises, their entire mission critical IT & Telecoms infrastructure needs to be packed up, transported and rebuilt on the new site.

The process appears simple at first glance. However, experience has taught Highlander that only by careful planning and project management can such a process be undertaken successfully. After working with many businesses over the last 7 years and relocating ourselves in March 2002, Highlander have developed a range of services to meet with all of the IT and Voice system requirements of companies as they move site and to support them throughout the process.

Highlander can act as the principle supplier for CAT5e cabling, CCTV, Access Control, LAN Active Hardware (switches, hubs and routers), Telephone Systems, Internet connection, PC and Laptop units, Servers, Microsoft software and maintenance and support services. This gives our customers the convenience and simplicity of a single relationship with a single supplier. Alternatively, Highlander can provide a part of the solution and co-ordinate our elements with other aspects from other suppliers.

Project Management

Project ManagementThe key to a successful business move is experienced Project Management. Like any service it is easier when you know how. Most businesses only move once or twice in their lifetime. Highlander can offer you the experience of having supported many of our customers as they move premises or extend current office sites. The role of the Highlander Project Manager is to co-ordinate all agreed services, suppliers and tasks included within the IT & Telecoms scope of relocation. As the IT staff still have to meet the day to day demands of system support and development, Highlander can offer a single point of contact for co-ordination of aspects of the relocation and equipping of the new premises. Project plans and regular meetings provide feedback and progress reports.

Building Infrastructure CablingAll new premises will require cabling to be installed for voice and data communications. Even existing offices will usually require an element of works in terms or relocating outlet positions and testing each outlet. Highlander is able to provide a comprehensive cabling solution to our customers. Our consultants will provide a detailed on site survey to define your needs without obligation, and design a cabling infrastructure to meet current and future requirements.

All workmanship and materials are guaranteed for 12 months and turnkey CAT5e or CAT6 structured cabling projects come complete with a 15-year manufacturers warranty. Highlander is able to offer solutions cable and fibre installations from major manufacturers such as: Krone, RW Data, Excel, and Connectix. Our cabling services include: -

Telephone Systems and Connections

Telephone Systems and ConnectionsWhen a business relocates to a new site, as a minimum, they will require having new telephone lines and Internet connections installed. Highlander works with many of the leading carriers and can arrange for the installation of ISDN30E, ISDN2E or ADSL links as required. We also have partnerships with least cost routing companies and can audit your current telephone bills to see if we can save you money on your telephone call costs.

Should your new premises require the installation of a new telephone system then Highlander can help here too. We are fully manufacturer independent and as such can offer the right solution to meet your needs from a range of manufacturers including Siemens, Samsung, Panasonic, Mitel and Avaya. We can advise on systems ranging from a small handful of extensions to large units of 100 plus extensions with call centre functionality, voice mail, or integrated multi site networks.

As the worlds of voice and data converge, Highlander have experience not only in the traditional voice world of installation and support of PBX telephone systems but can also advise on the emerging technologies of VOIP and server based telephony products. All installations are fully warranted and comprehensive ranges of maintenance support options are available.

Local and Wide Area Networks

Local and Wide Area NetworksMany businesses take the opportunity when relocating to upgrade their LAN or WAN hardware equipment. Highlander can design, install, support and maintain your Local or Wide Area network, by designing a solution to fit your needs. We can design the network using 10/100 Mbps, or even Gigabit network switches, from a range of manufacturers including, Cisco, HP, Allied Telesyn and Netgear. We can offer units from as small as 8-ports up to several hundred ports in size.

For the Wide Area Network Highlander can supply, install, support and maintain a range of network routers suitable for connection to ISDN2e, ADSL and Kilostream or Megastream network services. In addition we have relationships with many of the major carriers and can order the installation of suitable network connections on the behalf of our customers to deliver a seamless service.

Our Wireless LAN specialists and engineers are fully trained to provide Wireless solutions in any environment where a traditional structured cabling solution or carrier leased lines simply is not possible. We can provide the hardware and software products to ensure compatibility and reliability from initial design, implementation and supply of Wireless LAN solutions.
