In 1999 Highlander was asked to work with the local education bodies - Sheffield Hallam University, Sheffield University and The Sheffield Colleges to provide an all encompassing service to it´s disabled students.Every disabled student accepted onto a degree course is entitled to financial support via their local education authority (LEA) which forms part of the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA). Sheffield\'s Universities designed a proposition to make best use of this money and at the same time provide assistance and service to disabled students choosing to study in the city.
“Highlander has since become an expert in this field” - explains Chris Muscroft, Highlander Sales Manager. “We provide valuable support to hundreds of students where PC systems and enabling technologies have been supplied - with the student being the primary focus”.
This total solution is provided by Highlander in conjunction with the LEA, educational establishment and the student. This ultimately leads to a seamless assessment and then installation of computer equipment to the student.
